This is what you lovely folks could win.

A vintage 1970s Jacobean embroidery magazine which is unused and has all the original templates.

A Vintage 1970s Vogue pattern which is unused, size 16 bust 97cm, waist 76cm, hips 102cm. It would be perfect for soft fabrics such as crepe and jersey.

11 vintage 3cm grey tortoise shell buttons.

10 vintage 2cm black and grey tortoise shell buttons.

12 vintage brass buttons.

Just over 2.50 m of vintage brown, beige and purple fabric with a geometric pattern. I'm unsure what kind of fabric this is but it does have a slight stretch and drapes well.

2 pieces of vintage paisley fabric. One piece is 1.40m and has sequins the other is 80cm and has no sequins.

We have a lovely piece of lace cream fabric donate by the fabulous White Tree Fabrics who have very generously given 2m. It really is beautiful and I can think of so many this you could make from it!

Finally we have these amazing lollies from Goodies a lovely old fashioned sweet shop. They are the most amazing flavors we have Bakewell Tart, Cookies and Cream, Birthday Cake, and Gin and Tonic yum!

Good Luck from The SIY Challengers x

  1. I love starting with a blank piece of paper and an idea in my head, which somehow, magically and mysteriously turns in to a dress (although i'm usually still sewing it 10 mins before i'm due out the door wearing it) x

  2. I like sewing because....It can be challenging or a doddle, depends how you are feeling and what you are working on. You are in control!

  3. I love sewing because it's the a real mental challenge as well as being fun!

  4. Great competition - thank you! I like sewing for loads of reasons but one that springs to mind today is that I can make what ever I want, in any colour/fabric/shape combo. Your imagination is the limit, and you can make some really unique pieces you couldn't find on the high street.

  5. I love handsewing, embroidery and crossstitch. Daughter loves machine work. So we help each other out and between us make a great team!

  6. I've only just discovered sewing really; I'm not sure I'm even any good at it yet, but I started making some curtains for our camper van, then some bunting, then a quilt for my daughter out of her old babygrows. I find the process very calming and therapeutic, and have discovered I can make some beautiful things. I've set myself the challenge of sewing all my Christmas cards this year, with some material offcuts. I'm not a particularly technical seamstress but I've just bought my first dress pattern and really want to make something unique to me - THIS is why I love sewing; nobody else will have something the same as you, and I like to be different :)

  7. I have expensive taste in clothes, well made with simple designs in quality cloth. I can make what I want, although the 'well made' aspect is a work in progress.......

  8. I love sewing as it's my favourite creative outlet, from free machine embroidery to hand sewing quirky little pictures! Fab giveaway x

  9. I try to avoid anything toxic and you never can tell what has happened to the fabric in shop bought clothes unless they are fairtrade and organic. I much prefer to use fabrics that I know fit in with my FENTOSCH principles and create my own things from them, knowing they are better for me and the environment.

  10. Competition is now closed thank you for entering x
